Anyone know where I could find a 32-bit edition of msdos 6? I have a 64-bit machine, and Windows comes with a 32-bit Msdos 5.1. I have several copies of ms-dos 6, If I Install Ms-dos 6 when I try to run it I get the following error message: C: WINDOWS system32 command.com config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
31 - Boot and install Windows 7 or Vista or Server 2008 (both 32 and 64 bit) from ISO files from a single bootable USB install d. 32 - Create a USB drive with multiple Vista/Win7/Server2008 install ISO files in 3 simple steps! Create a DOS Bootable USB drive (using grub4dos) suitable for BIOS flashing. (Using MS-DOS 6.22 by Jim Cooper. Jul 19, 2011 Once you have downloaded a program that can burn ISOs to CD/DVD drives you will need to burn the MS-DOS 6.22 ISO to your CD/DVD drive. Once you have finished burning the ISO to your CD/DVD drive reboot your computer, Your computer should boot in to MS-DOS 6.22.
And the message header says 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem. I read about this error in a forum on this site, I did what they said to fix the error, and I stopped getting the error, but I was back to MS-DOS 5.1! I will be grateful for any help given, Thanks. Are trying to install a 16 bit Operating System (DOS 6.X) under Windows XP and it just isn't going to happen for a few reasons. First, it can't 'see' a FAT 32 or NTFS formatted partition-MUST be installed on FAT12 or FAT16 partition. It is an OPERTING SYSTEM, and not simply an application.
If you want to spend the money you can obtain VM-Ware or Microsoft's own Virtual PC that allow you to install other client Operating Systems into virtual computers under the host OS. Then you could install DOS or Win 9.X.
It might be easier all around if you simply tell us what the 'project' is that requires DOS. Is it some special software application that runs only under DOS? What about running Dos 6 in an emulator? I know that DOSBox works on XP and can run DOS, but I'm not sure if it can run 6. By default, it comes with FreeDOS, which might be suitable. If DOSBox can't run DOS 6 (It should), then you could either try to get BOCHS to work, or buy VMWare. VMWare for sure can run DOS without a problem.
If for some odd reason you can't use an emulator for what you want to do, why not find an old computer somewhere that you could outfit to run DOS on? You should be able to find a really cheap computer that could easily run DOS without having to use Windows. However, if you must run DOS on the same system that you have the 64 bit processor in, other than emulators, there's not much you can do. Anyway, I hope this helps. Just do a google search for any of the above mentioned programs, you should find them no problem.
Best wishes, Jesse.
I refer you to the following question and the exerpted post shown below: - It doesn't appear that a specific real-mode ATAPI driver is provided on Polaroid's website - or anywhere else as far as I can determine. I would recommend using a universal driver available from '. I downloaded their DOS 6.22 bootdisk file, created a boot disk and extracted the required lines from the config.sys and autoexec.bat files.
In your case, you would take the boot floppy created for you by DriveImage and add the following lines to your config.sys file: DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:cdrom LASTDRIVE=Z and then to your autoexec.bat file: MSCDEX.EXE /D:cdrom /L:R You would then need to copy the two files from the DOS 6.22 bootdisk, 'MSCDEX.EXE' and 'CD1.SYS', to your DriveImage boot disk. This should work. If you wish, I can email you the files and the config mods. Don't worry about the fact that the DriveImage disks are using Caldera DOS. The driver from the DOS 6.22 disk should work.
You may also try running the DriveImage Rescue Disk Builder and see if its ATAPI support works with your drive. You will be prompted to select whether you wish support for ATAPI / SCSI / optical and/or zip devices. Good luck and let me know if you want me to email you the files I spkoe of above.
